Today we bring you another feature release for the SPG/VSP/HSP mail security products! Feature releases typically jumps the third digit in the version number, from 2.2.1.1 to 2.2.2 in this case. Now isn't 2.2.2 a remarkably neat version number?

As you might have figured out, the first digit is just saying that you are using H/OS 2, the current operating system. The second digit is the major version, the third digit is the feature version, and the fourth digit is the patch level.

Indeed! First off, in addition to the backscatter-fighting GetDNSHeader() function, we have added no less than three BATV functions that can be used to prevent incoming backscatter. In the future, these might be added to the simple block chart flows, but feel free to implement them as scripts in the meantime.

Moving on, we allow for advanced concurrent programming by the atomic barrier control structure and the new isset() function. The barrier lock is appliance-global, and consequentially works even between processes (such as mailscand operating on mail data, ippolicyd on packets, etc). In other words, inter-process communication :)

If you are using MDaemon or the latest IceWarp mail servers, you can try out the minger_lookup() function for recipient lookup.

Finally, wouldn't it be nice to compare a specific configuration revision to the current? We thought so too! Check it out on the configuration tab.

Cheers!
